Connacher is strongly committed to protecting the health and safety of our team members and the public, while preserving the quality of the environment in which we operate. Our business plan and operating standards provide the vision and strategy to manage Connacher’s risks and liabilities and the tools to implement necessary practices and procedures that enable us to meet our performance goals. We continue to participate in the CAPP Stewardship program. CAPP defines the stewardship framework as a commitment to responsible resource development and continuous improvement. All CAPP members are held to this standard. It is an integrated approach that instills sound planning and operating practices to ensure continuous improvement in environmental, health, safety and social performance. It promotes mutually beneficial relationships and open, honest reporting of our performance in these areas. To our industry, stewardship means responsibly developing hydrocarbons to meet current needs, while respecting future needs, through the efficient use of natural resources. Regulatory and ComplianceEnergy development is regulated by several agencies and various pieces of legislation govern Connacher’s operations. Discipline specialists monitor and communicate regulatory developments to direct or focus Connacher’s operations staff for compliance with relevant laws and regulations in both Canada and the U.S. Our continuing policy is to strive to meet all laws, regulations and standards pertaining to the Health, Safety and the Environment. The ERCB and Alberta Environment ("AE"), Connacher’s main regulators, oversee the safe and responsible development of Alberta’s energy resources. In 2008, the ERCB and AE conducted inspections of some of Connacher’s sites to determine if there were any noncompliance issues. These inspections are designed to audit a number of compliance categories and rate the inspections, based on overall compliance. Connacher continues to strive for excellence in meeting these requirements. |
