Pod One Oil Sands Project at Great Divide

- Pod One is a steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) thermal recovery oil sands project designed to produce 1,600 cubic meters (10,000 bbls) of bitumen per day for approximately 25 years
- Pod One is located in sections 16 and 21, Township 82, Range 12, W4M. The Pod One project area covers 15 sections and was approved by the ERCB in 2006.
- Located 80 kilometers south of Fort McMurray and 370 km north of Edmonton

- The project has a small footprint and will disturb less than 6% of the project area
- The project recycles >90% of its water usage, sourced from a non-potable subsurface aquifer
- Pod One constructed on time at a cost of $272 million (excluding capitalized items)
- 298 days to construct, including the drilling and completion of 15 SAGD well pairs
- 30 days to commission SAGD plant
- 90 days of steaming prior to first production in December 2007
- Commerciality declared March 1, 2008
- 1 million barrels by July 2008
- 2 million barrels by December 2008
- Bitumen production levels as high as 9,870 bbl/d in September 2008
- Bitumen production temporarily curtailed in December 2008 due to deteriorating market conditions
- Full production ramp-up reinstated in January 2009 concurrent with improvement in heavy differentials, reduction in diluent blending and trucking costs and with hedges put in place to protect against further commodity price declines
- Two new SAGD well pairs completed in Q1 2009 and commenced steaming in April 2009. Anticipated conversion to production June/July of 2009.
- Installed 4 electrical submersible pumps in April 2009
- Focus in 2009 is optimizing plant operations, production and reduction of operating costs
